With Anthony Rocca (cracked ankle) and Ben Reid (broken foot) both out injured from the team that lost to the Western Bulldogs by 10 points in round 13, 2007 Copeland Trophy winner Travis Cloke returns from a one-match suspension to bolster the club’s key forward stocks.
Leon Davis also comes back into the side, having recovered from an ankle injury, while Shane Wakelin is over a virus and will line up at full back.
Young midfielder/defender Alan Toovey has been omitted and is an emergency alongside John Anthony and Danny Stanley.
Ruckman Josh Fraser is still recovering from his knee injury and will miss at least another week.
Collingwood is currently in seventh position on the ladder and 10 premiership points behind the fourth-placed Swans, but a victory will see the Magpies go to fifth and stay well within reach of a top-four spot.
The match also marks Mick Malthouse's 200th game coached for Collingwood and Heritier O’Brien’s 50th appearance for the Magpies.
The Magpies will fly to Sydney on Friday afternoon.
