HERE it is! The final home and away round of the season and bringing with it, the AFL Fantasy Grand Finals.

After a long, hard pre-season putting together round one starting squads, through to the 22 rounds of footy and 47 trades, it comes down to this. Bragging rights for the summer will be won by premiership coaches on Sunday evening following the last round of 2018.

While there will be thousands of league Grand Finals being played out this weekend, the race to the top of the overall rankings is as close as it has been in years.

Last year’s winner, Selby Lee-Steere, has propelled his team to the top of the leaderboard with one round to go. The coach of 'Moreira’s Magic' may achieve an amazing feat that has never been done before; back-to-back overall AFL Fantasy Classic championships.

He holds a 14-point lead over Jordan Pitt’s 'The Part Timers' and a 21-point lead over James Robinson’s 'Shuey’s Shockers'.

The leader after this weekend will walk away with a Toyota C-HR KOBA AWD and a Grand Final package. Coaches finishing second and third will also be off to the big game and take home $10,000 and $7,000 respectively. Monetary prizes will be awarded to 10th place and the top 100 coaches will win themselves an exclusive AFL Fantasy hat with their finishing position printed on it.

Tom Rockliff (shoulder) has been ruled out for the rest of the season as he will undergo shoulder surgery next week. The former Lions’ captain has had a disappointing Fantasy return in his first year for Port Adelaide. Rockliff’s average of 82.7 is more than 50 points less than his personal best. 

More than half of the top 100 coaches overall have Rockliff in their squads.

Last round Alex Witherden (hamstring) was a popular inclusion with his favourable match-up against the Suns. His night ended in the first quarter for 15 points and will need to be moved on, most likely back to Kade Simpson.

Pleasing Draft coaches with the return of some stars for the big dance is the round 23 inclusions of Josh Kelly, Dion Prestia, Trent Cotchin and Jarryd Roughead. 

If Zac Williams is available in your Draft league, consider picking him as a free agent if you need a defender. He scored 119 Fantasy points from 30 disposals and seven tackles in his NEAFL return following his Achilles injury.

Port Adelaide has named Billy Frampton (RUC/FWD, $170,000) to make his debut. The 21-year-old has averaged 80 at SANFL level for the past two seasons.

Get them in

Josh Dunkley (MID/FWD, $700,000) is the No.1 traded in player this week for the all-important GF. He is clearly the pick of the forwards despite a match-up with the Tigers following a five-round average of 115 on the back of his 132. His midfield role and elite tackling will ensure he once again posts a good score for his coaches.

Kade Simpson (DEF, $593,000) was one of the most traded out players last week and responded beautifully with 128. He is now the second most traded in player, with many coaches scrambling for an Alex Witherden replacement. A bruise-free game is on the cards v the Crows and is right up his alley. 

Seb Ross (MID, $759,000) is one of the form mids of the competition with a three-game average of 137. His recent numbers at Etihad are something to behold and there is no reason he won’t surpass his recent average against the Roos, who are giving up a phenomenal amount of points to opposition mids.

Move them on

Tom Rockliff (MID/FWD, $579,000) has been ruled out by the Power due to a shoulder injury that requires surgery. The DPP averaged 83 on debut for his new club and provides an unwanted headache for 22 per cent of coaches. He is the most traded out player.

Alex Witherden (DEF, $613,000) is the second most traded out player following a hamstring injury sustained on 15 points last week. It is an absolute horror story for coaches that traded him in last week on the back of some nice form, coupled with the dream match-up with the Suns.

Tom Mitchell (MID, $939,000) is amazingly the third most traded out player as a tool to generate enough cash for a significant upgrade of an injured player like Witherden or Rockliff. Although it is a bold move, statistically it is strengthened by the fact he has never scored more than 108 against the Swans.

Calvin's Captains

1. Brodie Grundy - The ruck-pig had a huge game last week with 147 and the last three ruckmen who have battled Sean Darcy recent have scored with ease. Abbott, who is only a rookie, scored 109 last week and before that, replacement ruckman Lobbe (103) and Lycett (103) also hit triple figures. Lock him in and expect 'pig status' for this man to come early in 2019 if he starts on fire. 

2. Seb Ross - This will be huge. Opposition big ball-winners have had a field day against the Roos in the last two weeks that saw Crouch, Laird, Macrae and Hunter average 43 disposals and 134 points between them. Ross is the No.1 man in the game based on form and will once again dominate under the Etihad roof.

3. Patrick Dangerfield - Surely Dangerfield rips the Suns apart here, just like he has in his most recent games where he has scored 96, 119, 129 and 138.

4. Jack Macrae - The Tigers can be tough on their day but this one should be a bruise-free game at the MCG where Macrae has averaged 128 in his last four games.

5. Matt Crouch - A season-high 136 last week was just what we needed from Crouch at the pointy end of the season. He’s against the Blues this week and should improve on the 106 he scored on them earlier this year.
