Who is the insider? Is it a Melbourne player, a member of the coaching staff or someone from admin? Is it a combination of all? Regardless, the insider will give Melbourne supporters a light-hearted look at the goings on at the club this week

The pool sharks
There has been a bit of competition on the pool table in the players’ lounge lately. In between sessions, Danny Hughes and Lynden Dunn take each other on for bragging rights. It’s believed Dunn has the edge at the moment, with Hughes putting his poor form down to heavy arms from too many weights! Matthew Bate is eager to take the title from Dunny, but when money was spruiked between the two, it appears Bater said: “I’m no good!” It seems a friendly game is out of the question.

PTs for hire!

There a few personal trainers at the club, with Daniel Bell and Mark Jamar training their regular clients. Recently added to the list are Matthew Bate and Michael Newton, who have recently completed their qualifications. Bater is working with a mate who has his own studio. Belly is training passionate Melbourne supporter Phil Herbert in Glen Iris, and also trains a few groups of children at Cameron Bruce’s Jungle Gym in St Kilda. Jamar trains a lady in Canterbury and a studio in Ashwood. Whispers are that Jamar is running a health and fitness getaway in Thailand over the New Year period.

The three tenors
During the past two weeks, three boys have spun ‘sing-a-long’ in public. The question is: will Michael Newton, Lynden Dunn and Stefan Martin follow up on singing the Melbourne Football Club song from the food court of a major Melbourne shopping centre? Time will tell, but we can’t wait for that one!

Close shave for Bruce
The boys on the ‘Wheel Council Committee’ were glad to see Cameron Bruce late to a meeting! They made him spin the wheel, as everyone cheered in anticipation, hoping he would have to shave his head! But to everyone’s disappointment, he spun a fine! He was fined $230, yet after collecting $200 for gaining Spain in the World Cup sweep, it proved to be a small penalty!

Costly though for Jamar and Watts
Although Cale Morton opted to have his head shaved, Mark Jamar and Jack Watts had to pay $250 each, rather than going the nude nut. Meanwhile, Lynden Dunn was forced to wear his club suit to and from training all week. Still some good equipment for the changerooms will be purchased from the proceeds.
