FINALLY the last round of the home and away season is here, so finish off in style in your Draftstars contests by following some of the tips in this week's cheat sheet.

Adelaide v West Coast, Adelaide Oval, Friday night

Matt Crouch (MID, $12,850) has stepped into the midfield hole left by Patrick Dangerfield at the Crows and become a consistent ball-winner. Crouch won the medal as the best player in last week's Showdown and was the only Crow to surpass the 100-point barrier, collecting 118 points.

Jarryd Lyons (FWD/MID, $12,500) continued his strong season with 96 points last week, while Eddie Betts (FWD, $11,750) has averaged 93 points a game the past three rounds. The Crows will be hell-bent on locking in a home final at Adelaide Oval and Tom Lynch (FWD, $13,850) looms as a matchwinner up forward.

It's also worth looking out for Rory Laird (DEF, $14,250). The defender had a quieter game last week with just 73 points – down on his 96-point average – so should bounce back against the Eagles.

West Coast midfield duo Andrew Gaff (MID, $14,100) and Matt Priddis (MID, $15,400) will be central to the Eagles' chances of causing an upset over Adelaide. Priddis and Gaff were the only Eagles to reach 100 last week against Hawthorn, but were well supported by Luke Shuey (MID, $14,800) and Chris Masten (MID, $11,400).

Geelong v Melbourne, Simonds Stadium, Saturday

Aside from the big guns at the Cats – Patrick Dangerfield (MID, $17,350) and Joel Selwood (MID, $15,100) – the club has some other under-the-radar options worth considering.

That list starts with Sam Menegola (MID, $11,450), who has averaged 92 points in his first five AFL games and last week picked up 109 points against the Brisbane Lions. Cam Guthrie (MID, $12,300) will provide you with around 80 points every week, while Steven Motlop (FWD/MID, $12,850) can jump up and score like he did last week when he picked up 120 points.

Melbourne disappointed last week but had a number of strong Draftstars performers. Max Gawn (RK, $15,300) and Jack Viney (MID, $14,950) are the Dees' best picks but come at a higher price.

If you're looking for cheaper options who could bring in a score between 80 and 90, Jesse Hogan (FWD, $12,150) and Christian Petracca (FWD/MID, $10,800) are young guns coming through who performed well against the Blues last week. In the Dees' last week of Draftstars it might be a good time to punt on their youth.

Essendon v Carlton, MCG, Saturday

Put your hand up if you predicted at the start of the year that Zach Merrett (FWD/MID, $16,800) would be the second-highest Draftstars scorer of 2016? Yep, neither did we. But that's where the young Bomber finds himself with one game to play, having averaged 117 points a game this season. Last week he gathered 148 points against the Bulldogs.

David Zaharakis (MID, $13,900) also looks like he has worked through his form lull in the past couple of weeks with back-to-back scores in the 130s, while defender Mitch Brown (DEF/FWD, $10,050) has shown he is more natural in defence, averaging 110 points over the past three games.

This could well be James Kelly's (MID, $14,550) final AFL game, and he's been an excellent Draftstars player across the year (averaging 99).

Carlton midfielder Patrick Cripps (MID, $14,400) was outstanding in the Blues' win over Melbourne last week with a team-high 139 points, which was his third score in the past six weeks above 130. He is finishing the year in hot form.

Bryce Gibbs (MID, $16,000) and Nick Graham (MID, $11,750) were also excellent through the midfield, while Sam Docherty (DEF, $15,150) and Kade Simpson (DEF, $14,650) ran amok off half-back.

Sydney Swans v Richmond, SCG, Saturday

Josh Kennedy (MID, $15,850) continues to be a consistent scorer and is averaging 107 points a week for the Swans, while Dan Hannebery (MID, $16,500) is behind only Luke Parker (MID, $16,200) as the Swans' best scorers of the season.

Jake Lloyd (MID, $12,300) has averaged 84 in 21 games so can find the ball, but has scored just three hundreds all year so expect him to stick around the stable 80-point range without blitzing.

The last time these sides met in round eight it was Richmond's Sam Lloyd (FWD, $10,000) who kicked the match-winning goal after the siren. But don't bank on him to do the same this week after he scored a poor 47 last week.

It is hard to bank on too many Tigers you can be sure will take you to Draftstars glory beyond Dustin Martin (FWD/MID, $15,800), but even he only managed 86 points last week. No Richmond player reached triple figures in last week's poor loss to St Kilda, with Kane Lambert (MID/FWD, $8950) the best of the lot with 95 points.

The Tigers have limped to the line so avoid if possible. If you can't, Trent Cotchin (MID, $14,650) and Bachar Houli (DEF, $13,950) are the only other Richmond players we'd pick with confidence. Both have averaged mid-90s this season.

Gold Coast v Port Adelaide, Metricon Stadium, Saturday

There isn't much appeal or any implications riding on this game, so give it some meaning by rolling with a 'turbo' Draftstars contest using players just from this clash.

It means you will have to select one player from six different tiers to fill your team. Tier one, naturally, is full of the highest scoring players, which leaves us to take in Gold Coast's Aaron Hall (FWD/MID, $15,250) as our first choice.

His teammate Tom Lynch (FWD, $12,350) only scored 79 points last week and is managing a leg injury but we will back him in to finish the season well against the Power and make him our tier two choice, with Power midfielder Aaron Young (MID, $11,400) the tier three selection with an average of 77 points. He gathered just 55 points last week but should rebound.

This is where things get tough, with plenty of even scorers in the last three tiers. In tier four we are going with Gold Coast's Jack Martin (FWD, $10,750) in the hope he can springboard himself onto 2017 with a huge score. Peter Wright (FWD, $9400) makes it four Suns with the tier five selection, and Karl Amon (MID/FWD, $8950) becomes our final selection in tier six.

It's fair to say it's not a team of big names, but that's where the skill (and a dose of luck) comes into the turbo mode of Draftstars. Back in the roughies to bring it home.

North Melbourne v Greater Western Sydney, Etihad Stadium, Saturday

All eyes will be on the quartet of senior North Melbourne players the club has chosen not to re-contract for next year. We think it's worth throwing at least Brent Harvey (FWD, $13,050) a Draftstars lifeline this weekend, especially considering he was North's highest scorer last week with 140 points.

Another player who this week learned this year will be his last at Arden Street was Nick Dal Santo (MID, $12,950), who picked up 120 points against the Sydney Swans last week to take his average to 95 over the past five weeks.

Jack Ziebell (MID, $14,250) and Daniel Wells (MID/FWD, $12,550) are relatively reliable picks from North Melbourne, but don't select ruckman Todd Goldstein (RK, $15,100) expecting guaranteed century – he's managed triple figures just once in his past six games.

It was great to see Ryan Griffen (MID, $12,800) return to his best last week with 137 points against Fremantle for GWS. It was Griffen's best score of an injury-hit season, but he could be a wildcard for your line-up in the finals.

Heath Shaw (DEF, $16,300) has been far more consistent and should be close to a first-choice defensive option with an average of 102 points, while Lachie Whitfield (MID, $12,850), with 118 points, covered for quieter games from Dylan Shiel (MID, $14,600) and Tom Scully (MID, $14,200).

St Kilda v Brisbane Lions, Etihad Stadium, Sunday

We've been on the Blake Acres (MID, $10,150) bandwagon for a few weeks and he keeps getting better. Last week the young Saint picked up a massive 121 points against Richmond. He has lifted his average to 100 over the past three weeks.

Seb Ross (MID, $14,750), Leigh Montagna (FWD/MID, $15,200), Jack Billings (FWD, $12,250), Jack Steven (MID, $15,900) and Nick Riewoldt (FWD, $15,550) were the other Saints to deliver triple-figure scores, while forward Tim Membrey (FWD, $10,950) scored 83 points. He's had a great season and has been a relatively consistent scorer at a cheaper price.

The Lions will also be keen to finish their season in strong form. Captain Tom Rockliff (MID, $16,100) has averaged 136 points the past three weeks and is in excellent point-scoring form.

Stefan Martin (RK, $12,100) picked up 106 points last week in his roaming ruck role and presents as a good value pick while youngster Rhys Mathieson (MID, $9600) has some spunk and gathered 81 points against the Cats last week. He looms as a long-term option in Draftstars as he continues to build his engine.

Hawthorn v Collingwood, MCG, Sunday

Shaun Burgoyne (DEF, $12,100) this week signed a new one-year deal with the Hawks fresh from his team-high score of 123 points last week against West Coast. Burgoyne has averaged 97 the past five weeks, so presents as a good option.

The same old faces, like Luke Hodge (MID, $14,000) and Jordan Lewis (MID, $15,550), are trusty Hawthorn picks, but it was Billy Hartung (MID, $11,050) was rounded out the top-four scorers for Hawthorn last week, gathering 87 points on the big Domain Stadium ground.

It was almost a training drill for Collingwood last week against Gold Coast, but you take the Draftstars points however you get them. The Pies had eight players score more than 100 and six scored about 120.

Jeremy Howe's (DEF/FWD, $12,000) move to defence has been a raging success and over the past three weeks his average is up to 100, while youngster Josh Smith (MID, $11,150) has scored more than 120 in two of his past four games. Oh, and by the way, if you want to throw some cash at a ruckman but think everyone has Max Gawn, go with Brodie Grundy (RK, $14,650).

The Collingwood big man is in brilliant form and has averaged 113 the past five weeks. Pencil him in for a big finish to the year.

Fremantle v Western Bulldogs, Domain Stadium, Sunday

It's the last game of the home and away season so we're going to play it in turbo mode.

It's a very tough call in tier one of this clash given the quality midfield options. But with an average of 111, it's too hard to go past Fremantle star Lachie Neale (MID, $16,600) as the first player picked.

In tier two we're going with Western Bulldogs speedster Jason Johannisen (DEF, $13,600), while Doccers forward Michael Walters (FWD, $12,300) gets the spot in tier three.

There's four options in tier four and Western Bulldog Shane Biggs (DEF, $11,250) appears the most reliable with an average nearly hitting 80, while Fremantle midfielder Connor Blakely (MID, $10,350) is our tier five choice. In what might be his last game as a Docker, we're backing Hayden Ballantyne (FWD, $9150) for a big game as our tier six pick.
