MINOR premier Fremantle has dominated the AFL All-Australian squad announced on Monday with a whopping eight players named.

The Dockers have been rewarded for their 19-win home-and-away season with a competition-leading representation in the 46-strong squad that also has six players selected from Brisbane and five from Hawthorn.

But, like usual, there will be some unhappy supporter bases after North Melbourne young gun Harry Sheezel was overlooked, along with West Coast’s former No.1 draft pick Harley Reid.
 
Collingwood defender Billy Frampton also missed the 46 despite a strong campaign, while Carlton midfielder Sam Walsh and defensive pair Jack Silvagni and Tom McCartin could also consider themselves unlucky.

Melbourne skipper Max Gawn is in line for a record-breaking ninth All-Australian blazer when the final 23 is named at the AFL Awards on Tuesday night.

Western Bulldogs superstar Marcus Bontempelli could also earn his eighth selection to equal Gary Ablett Snr, Gary Ablett Jnr, Patrick Dangerfield, Lance Franklin, Robert Harvey and Mark Ricciuto.

Gawn and Bontempelli are among eight club captains or co-captains in the squad alongside Jordan Dawson, Harris Andrews, Patrick Cripps, Alex Pearce, James Sicily and Callum Wilkie, leaving selectors with plenty of choice when the official skipper is named on Tuesday night.

In all, 21 players will be vying for their first All-Australian jacket.

Alongside Pearce, Fremantle has players on every line in the mix with forwards Jye Amiss, Josh Treacy and Shai Bolton, midfielders Caleb Serong and Murphy Reid, ruckman Luke Jackson and defender Jordan Clark all in contention.

Coleman Medal winner Charlie Curnow and four-time Melbourne best and fairest winner Clayton Oliver have been named following high-profile off-season moves to Sydney and Greater Western Sydney respectively.

Curnow and Brodie Grundy are the only Swans players named, with suspended trio Nick Blakey, Isaac Heeney and Chad Warner ruled ineligible after their club-imposed suspensions last week.

Brisbane dynamo Charlie Cameron is one of a record-breaking nine Indigenous players named, earning his nomination with 50 goals following an uncharacteristically quiet 2025.

Essendon, Richmond and the Eagles are the only clubs to miss out on a nomination altogether, while Cripps is the only Blue named despite their incredible surge to a wildcard final.

The All-Australian selection panel is comprised of AFL CEO Andrew Dillon, administrators Greg Swann and Laura Kane, Eddie Betts, Simon Black, Jude Bolton, Abbey Holmes, Glen Jakovich, David Mundy and Joel Selwood.
