BRISBANE co-captain Josh Dunkley has denied complacency got the better of his team in Saturday's loss to Sydney, saying the Lions still have the hunger to chase a third premiership.

Brisbane was thumped by 53 points in the qualifying final, with coach Chris Fagan questioning their mental approach following the loss.

Speaking on Tuesday morning, Dunkley said Brisbane's preparation to face the undermanned Swans was "really good".

"I couldn't really fault our training, couldn't fault our mindset heading into it," he said.

"It was just one of those days. We've had a couple of them this year, and unfortunately it was in a big final where we had a great opportunity. 

"But we'll learn from it; as I always say, you don't lose, you learn, and we'll hopefully bounce back this week."

Dunkley said the Lions reviewed the performance strongly on Monday, with a number of poor defensive efforts highlighted.

He was confident they still had the defensive mindset to turn things around against Adelaide in a semi-final at the Gabba on Saturday night.

"You'll see it this weekend. If we're not hungry this weekend, then we don't deserve to be there," Dunkley said.

"Last week wasn't acceptable and it's something that us leaders and even in the group are willing to take control of and move forward.

"What we can control is the things that we bring, and that's things like the defensive sides of the game. That wasn't at the level on the weekend, and we accept that, and we look forward to redeeming ourselves this week.

"If we don't turn up, and we play like we did last week, we won't be there the following."

Lockdown defender Noah Answerth was spotted in a moon boot on Tuesday and has a question mark over his availability.

Answerth hurt his ankle in the loss to the Swans and was rested late in the game.
