The match day report laid against Hawthorn's David Hale for making forceful contact from front-on against North Melbourne's Leigh Adams was assessed. The ball was loose with Adams and Hale moving to the contest from opposite directions. Hale had his arms down in a bid to gather possession when contact was made to his opponent. After viewing all available footage and speaking with the umpire who laid the report, it was the view of the panel that player Hale had no realistic alternative way to contest the ball. No further action was taken.
The match day report laid against North Melbourne's Taylor Hine for making forceful contact from front-on against Hawthorn's Jack Gunston was assessed. Gunston is reaching down to collect the ball as Hine comes to the contest from the side. Contact is made to Gunston's shoulder and side and a free kick was paid at the time, with a report laid. After viewing all available footage, speaking to the umpire who laid the report and receiving a medical report from the Hawthorn Football Club, it was the view of the panel that the majority of contact was made to Gunston's side and there was minimal high contact. The panel determined the force used was below that required to constitute a reportable offence. No further action was taken.
Contact between Brisbane Lion Mitch Golby and Carlton's Marc Murphy from the third quarter of Friday's match was assessed. After viewing all available footage and receiving a medical report from the Carlton Football Club, it was the view of the panel that the majority of contact was made to Murphy's shoulder, upper arm and body by Golby's arm. The panel determined the force used was below that required to constitute a reportable offence. No further action was taken.
