The Eagles took a calculated risk by naming Naitanui as the substitute, on his return from a groin injury, given the 2012 All Australian had not played any football this season.
If an early injury had occurred and a substitution was required Worsfold said he would have stuck to the original plan.
"Yeah, we had contingencies in place for anything that may have arisen in that regard," Worsfold said.
"So we would have stuck with our plan regardless."
West Coast were unable to play Naitanui in the WAFL as his club Swan Districts had two consecutive byes.
"It was good to use him as the sub today, because we didn't want to play him any longer than that and he would have missed out on some match practice this week and maybe next week anyway."
Naitanui collected five possessions and 17 hit-outs in 35 minutes after coming on for Callum Sinclair in the third term.
Whether Naitanui can play a full game next week will depend on his role and his recovery, Worsfold explained.
"That will depend on how we use him, how much he plays in the ruck versus forward.
"He would probably be OK to play a full game just as a forward next week."
Worsfold believes his side is capable of playing three ruckmen together in the same game.
"That's something we can look at because Callum Sinclair is a more natural forward than he is a ruckman.
"His work around the ground has been a real bonus for us. He's been a threat all the time.
"It's something we can weigh up."
Five talking points: West Coast Eagles v Western Bulldogs
Worsfold was pleased with his team's four-quarter effort against the Bulldogs, particularly their efficiency in both defence and attack.
The Eagles kept the Bulldogs to just 17 scores from 53 inside 50 entries whilst scoring 32 times from their own 52 forward thrusts.
"They (the backline) were very efficient in terms of nullifying the Dogs scoring efforts.
"It's obviously not just the backs but the midfielders working hard to cover as well.
"That was pretty pleasing."
"Our efficiency going forward has been pretty good all year. Last week it was inaccuracy rather than efficiency."
While the power forward combination of Jack Darling, Josh Kennedy, and Dean Cox bagged 13.2 between them, Mark LeCras managed a less tidy 3.4 from seven opportunities, but his coach was not concerned.
"Lecca will be right.
"He kicked a couple of really good goals for us today.
"He's been kicking goals every week bar last week when he missed his opportunities.
"So he'll keep improving."
