COLLINGWOOD has quashed rumours that Andrew Krakouer has walked out on the club.

Speculation on social media was rife that the 30-year-old's AFL career was over after a radio discussion about reasons for his absence from football this weekend.

Krakouer was a surprise omission from the squad to play Melbourne on Queen's Birthday and he was a late withdrawal from Collingwood's VFL side on Saturday, citing illness.

However, a club spokesperson denied there was an issue between player and club.

"We can say with certainty that it's simply not true that Andrew has walked out on the club," the spokesperson told AFL.com.au.

"He hasn’t been at training for four or five days as a consequence of personal issues, and that's why he wasn't selected this week. But he is expected at training this week. He said as much today to the club."

After starting the season in the VFL, Krakouer had been building form and fitness in recent weeks.

He was one of the Pies' most influential performers with three goals in their upset win over Geelong in round eight. It was an effort that earned him a vote in the AFLCA awards that week.
