Eddie McGuire to start counselling over racial vilification
Magpies president to begin program after League sign-off
COLLINGWOOD president Eddie McGuire is set to start his counselling program two weeks after he breached the AFL's racial vilification policy.
McGuire was cited by the League for his radio comment that Sydney Swans champion Adam Goodes could be used to promote the King Kong stage show.
His comment came just five days after Goodes was called an ape by a Collingwood supporter during an Indigenous Round match at the MCG.
McGuire has since said he was willing to "take every step and every whack that comes", with his education program now signed off by the AFL.
"That program has been finalised and that program will commence shortly," AFL CEO Andrew Demetriou told radio station 3AW on Friday morning.
"It's a confidential program, it's been signed off by all the appropriate people, and Eddie will commence that shortly.
"It's very substantial and he's ready, willing and able.
"It's been put together by very eminent people and it's also had input from the player group."
Demetriou has previously said McGuire's program would be co-ordinated by the league's community relations manager Jason Mifsud, indigenous players and indigenous leaders.
