Voss lauded his players for believing they could overrun the Cats despite being down by 52 points during the third quarter, and 38 at the last change.
He hoped the victory would now be a catalyst for a strong second half of the season and said that despite the incredible nature of the victory, his players had to quickly refocus.
But there was no hiding his elation following Ash McGrath's after-the-siren goal sealed a famous five-point win.
"It would have to be very close to one of the best, that's for sure," Voss said.
"In the end, for the players to believe at three-quarter time that's possible, I'm not sure where that ended up coming from.
"Certainly more players willed themselves to the contest."
Voss' tenure has included several similarly dramatic victories: over Carlton in an elimination final in 2009; a Jonathan Brown post-siren goal against West Coast in 2010 and a James Polkinghorne torpedo in the final minute to snatch victory against the Eagles last year.
But there has been no comeback like this one, against such quality opposition.
Voss said the sequence in the final 25 seconds that took the ball from full-back to McGrath's hands within scoring range was simple coaching.
"We had to go fast and we had to go straight," Voss said.
"All the right decisions at the right time. That's why you do all your training. Hopefully in those moments of pressure you can execute and we were able to in that occasion.
"There wasn't a lot of science in it - go straight, go fast and get it down there as quick as you can."
Co-captain Daniel Rich said Voss had belief in the Lions at three-quarter time and encouraged them to take risks and move the ball quickly.
Rich said watching McGrath's kick sail towards the goals was real heart-in-mouth stuff.
"It started outside the goalpost ... but it swung back in. It's one of those things you'll never forget and one of the best games I've personally played in," Rich said.
"You stand on the ground and look at each other and think 'Have we really won this?' It's a big result for us and gives us some belief."
