WEST Coast will welcome back a raft of stars for its crucial Western Derby clash against Fremantle next weekend. 

Sharrod Wellingam, Luke Shuey, Sam Butler and Ashley Smith are all expected to return to face the in-form cross-town rivals as the Eagles aim to continue an outside push for the finals. 

It follows an upset six-point win over Adelaide on Saturday night that moved the Eagles to one win outside the eight and had coach John Worsfold suggesting his side was now nearing its best. 

The Eagles trailed by 13 points with six minutes to go against the Crows but kicked the last three goals to snatch victory.

"I thought it was going to be hard to get back," Worsfold said.

"Once we got behind the challenge was to take some risks but also to play smart to create some scores."

Josh Kennedy (four goals) produced the winner with 53 seconds to go to ensure the Eagles didn't suffer three consecutive narrow losses.

"We've been pretty proud of them in the last three weeks," Worsfold  said. 

"They've had three big efforts against the Hawks, Essendon and Adelaide and we've lost players all the way through there, but the guys that have taken the field have given everything."

The Eagles won the tackle count by 19 and had stellar midfield performances from Chris Masten (39 possessions), Matt Priddis (33 possessions) and Bradd Dalziell (26 possessions, 1 goal).

Worsfold said he didn't see midfielder Brad Sheppard receive an elbow to the head from Shaun Mckernan, who was reported for striking. Sheppard was given a concussion test at quarter-time but was cleared to play by the club doctor.

The Eagles are now at 7-7 and Worsfold believes they're working towards being back to their best despite a tough run with injuries.

"Not far off it," Worsfold said.

"It means we're good enough to be thereabouts with those really good teams.

"Our season to date I wouldn't say there's been a lot of times that we've been disappointed in our effort, but we haven't played really good footy.

"If we win every game from now on we'll be in the finals."

Jacob Brennan suffered a groin injury and will miss the Western Derby.
