Fractured collarbone puts Rhys Stanley out for season
THE SEASONS of St Kilda's Arryn Siposs, Rhys Stanley and Tom Simpkin are over with all three booked in for surgery this week.
Siposs will have an operation on his shoulder, while Simpkin has already gone under the knife to relieve pressure in a compartment of his lower leg.
Stanley will have surgery to repair his fractured collarbone.
Stanley, 22, was subbed out at half-time of the Saints' 31-point loss to the Brisbane Lions at the Gabba on Saturday night, after landing awkwardly on his left side after contesting a mark late in the second quarter.
All three players are expected to be able to start the 2014 pre-season on time.
Stanley and ruckman Ben McEvoy played on Saturday night with the gastro bug that caused the unavailability of emergency Trent Dennis-Lane.
Jack Newnes, who was also ill, was then controversially replaced by Ahmed Saad in the final team only days after it was revealed he had tested positive to a banned substance.
Saad's 'B' sample is yet to be tested and he will be eligible for selection until an anti-doping tribunal decides to impose a sanction.
The three join Sam Fisher (toe), Terry Milera (ankle), Spencer White (wrist), Jackson Ferguson (knee) and Daniel Markworth (knee) as Saints unavailable for the rest of the season.
Beau Maister (hamstring), Justin Koschitzke (calf) and Sam Gilbert (knee) are still recovering from injuries and aren't expected to be available for Friday night's clash with Hawthorn.
