SYDNEY Swans co-captain Kieren Jack is the new leader in the AFL Coaches' Association champion player award, overtaking unbackable Brownlow Medal favourite Gary Ablett.

Jack received the maximum 10 votes for the second week in a row in the Swans' win over the Western Bulldogs to take his overall tally to 90.

He is five clear of Ablett, who had led the voting since round eight. For the second week running, Ablett went voteless while his tagger was recognised. This time it was West Coast stopper Scott Selwood, who was awarded three votes.

Next-best at Etihad Stadium on Sunday behind Jack was Western Bulldogs star Ryan Griffen (eight), who has polled in 11 of his past 12 games to be sixth in the coaches' award. Griffen is just four votes behind third-placed Swan Dan Hannebery.

North Melbourne veteran Brent Harvey was deemed best-afield in the Kangaroos' upset win over Geelong. He has received votes in four of his past six games.

All Australian hopeful Chad Wingard has leapt to equal-12th in the coaches' award after earning a perfect 10 in Port Adelaide's remarkable come-from-behind win over Adelaide in the Showdown.

Collingwood monopolised the voting in its 79-point win over Essendon, with Steele Sidebottom (eight) leading the way and Dane Swan (seven) and Scott Pendlebury (five) consolidating their spots on the overall leaderboard.

Richmond's fine win over Hawthorn was well recognised with Trent Cotchin and Alex Rance receiving nine votes apiece while Brian Lake was the only Hawk to poll, receiving one vote.

In Fremantle's win over Carlton, Dockers forward Michael Walters and his direct opponent Zach Tuohy both received votes.

Last year's No. 1 draft pick, Lachie Whitfield, was recognised by the coaches for the first time, receiving two votes in Greater Western Sydney's first win of the season against Melbourne.
