JOHN Worsfold says he is keen to coach on in 2014, even if it is at a rival club.
Worsfold is out of contract with West Coast at the end of the season and has spent the entire year rebuking speculation surrounding his future.
But on Wednesday he admitted he has the desire to coach on and would entertain coaching at another club should West Coast not offer him a contract extension.
"Of course I would, absolutely," Worsfold said.
"If I wanted to coach, would I coach somewhere else, absolutely I would.
However, all indications are that Worsfold will re-sign with West Coast.
He is due to make a presentation to the Eagles board in September but the 2006 premiership coach has been in regular talks with CEO Trevor Nisbett and chairman Alan Cransberg.
"Alan Cransberg has made it public that they're keen for me to coach on if I've got the passion, and I've indicated that I'm keen to coach on.
"At this stage, things are starting to line-up.
"I talk regularly outside of board meetings with Trevor and Alan.
"Everything's going along pretty well."
Worsfold was keen to stress that a new contract was not a done deal given Michael Voss’ removal at the Brisbane Lions on Tuesday.
"There's a process that our board has to go through in terms of appointing anyone to this club, and they'll go through that normal process.
"It is due diligence.
"Part of that is sitting down and talking to me about terms of contract and all the other sorts of things that happen in making that appointment.
"We have to make sure it's the right thing for the footy club, and that process is under way.
"There's no timeline in finalising it."
Worsfold said he felt for his friend Voss, who he hired as an assistant coach at West Coast in late 2008. But Voss never took up the position as he was offered the senior role by the Lions soon after.
Worsfold said he had spoken to Voss on Tuesday evening, following his dismissal from the Lions.
"I've had a pretty good relationship with Vossy for a long period of time," Worsfold said.
"So as soon as I heard I sent him a message, and he got back to me straight away.
"I know he would have had a lot going through his head.
"At some point in time I look forward to catching up with him, because I've really enjoyed my association with him."
