Trio of Dockers sign contract extensions to stay at Fremantle
FREMANTLE has secured the services of Alex Silvagni, Matt Taberner and Tanner Smith for next season, with the trio signing contract extensions.
Silvagni has signed a one-year extension to remain at the club until the end of 2014.
The 25-year-old has played 39 matches in his four seasons at Fremantle after he was recruited with pick 24 in the 2010 rookie draft from the Casey Scorpions.
Silvagni has played 10 matches this season but was left out of the qualifying final win over Geelong last Saturday when Luke McPharlin returned from injury.
Fremantle general manager of player management Brad Lloyd said the club was very pleased to have signed Silvagni for 2014.
"Alex has become a very dependable defender for the football club," Lloyd said.
"We’re excited that he’s extended his contract for another year."
Taberner has signed a two-year extension after playing four matches in his debut season following his elevation from the rookie list.
The 20-year-old, who debuted against North Melbourne in round 13, will be added to the senior list in 2014 and has signed until the end of 2015.
Smith, a fellow Victorian, has signed a one-year extension that will see him remain at the club until the end of the 2015 season.
Smith debuted against Hawthorn in round four after he was selected with pick 36 in the 2012 NAB AFL Draft. It was the 19-year-old's only appearance after his season ended early due to a shoulder injury.
"They’re important players for us in the future and form an important part of our list management model," Lloyd said
