Lions consider bid for Bulldog Grant
Out-of-contract Western Bulldogs forward Jarrad Grant could be traded to the Brisbane Lions as part of a deal involving Sam Docherty, Fairfax Media reports.
Grant revived his career with a late-season form surge and has been offered a new one-year contract to stay with the Bulldogs, a deal that is believed to feature an incentive clause that would trigger a second season.
But the 24-year-old is seeking a non-conditional two-year contract.
A sticking point could be Docherty's preference for a trade to Carlton, while Essendon has also shown interest in the teenager, who is keen to return to his native Victoria.
Jamar on the move
MELBOURNE ruckman Mark Jamar could be leaving the Demons.
The Australian reports that new coach Paul Roos and Jamar, 30, are believed to have arrived at a mutual decision to seek a new home for the 133-game veteran.
An All-Australian in 2010, Jamar missed the second half of this season with a foot problem, but has apparently attracted the interest of several clubs.
The Demons look likely to place their trust in inexperienced trio Jake Spencer, Max Gawn and Jack Fitzpatrick to carry the ruck duties in 2014.
Saints issue deadline on Dal Santo
St Kilda has told North Melbourne it needs to move quickly if it wants to secure veteran Nick Dal Santo.
The Herald Sun reports the Saints are determined to end the stalemate to prevent further speculation about the club great.
“Nick is a respected member of the Saints player group and as such negotiations around any possible trade will not (be) allowed to drag on,” St Kilda football manager Chris Pelchen told the Herald Sun.
“In fairness to Nick, clarity around North Melbourne’s position will need be determined sooner rather than later.
“We don’t intend to conduct our list management through the media, but for the sake of our members and fans, I can confirm our position has not changed — any trade involving Nick Dal Santo would have to be acceptable to both Nick and us.”
North Melbourne wants to claim Dal Santo through free agency, which would be likely to provide the Saints with pick 22 as compensation.
The Kangaroos have pick 26 but club CEO Carl Dilena said on Wednesday this selection was off the table.
Muddying the waters, St Kilda wants off-contract Roos defender Luke Delaney.
