The inside word
The brother of Essendon's Jackson, Merrett bears several of the same characteristics as the Bomber half-forward, bringing an elite burst of pace, classy ball use and a dose of X-factor. Merrett is considered one of the better users of the ball in the draft. A star junior cricketer, he hails from Cobden on the Murray River, making his senior Cobden debut at 16. He was consistent for Vic Country in the NAB AFL Under-18 Championships.
