Luckless Docker Anthony Morabito edges closer to return
Docker's recovery from third knee reco gathers pace in full training
ANTHONY Morabito is edging closer to a return to the playing arena, according to Fremantle assistant coach Brett Kirk.
It has been an arduous road for Morabito. After a brilliant first season at AFL level in 2010 where he played 23 matches, including two finals, he has not been sighted at AFL level since.
He first ruptured his anterior cruciate ligament in the pre-season of 2011, forcing him to miss the entire season. He played one WAFL reserves and seven senior WAFL matches in 2012 before rupturing his ACL for a second time.
Morabito required a third knee reconstruction in January 2013 following another mishap in pre-season training.
The Dockers have been ultra-cautious with the 22-year-old but Kirk told 6PR that the midfielder has been training impressively in the past fortnight.
"Anthony is back in full training mode now and he's involved in every skill drill that we do," Kirk told 6PR.
"There hasn't been a date put on exactly when he's coming back. It will be the not too distant future. It's really exciting to have him back out on the park.
"When you look at the way he trains and his explosiveness, he's really had to dig deep mentally and it's just great to see him out on the park at the moment."
