David Swallow anything but unhappy at Gold Coast, signing a new deal
DAVID Swallow has extended his contract with Gold Coast and will remain a Sun until at least the end of 2017.
The three-year extension confirms his commitment to the club and emphatically quashes off-season rumours he was looking elsewhere.
The recently appointed vice-captain said he was looking forward to continuing his career with the Suns.
"I’m really pleased to re-sign with Gold Coast," Swallow said.
"We are continuing to move in the right direction and I really believe we are not too far away from achieving the success we spoke about during our establishment, even before we joined the AFL."
"I moved over here as a 17-year-old in 2010 and by the end of this contract I will have spent eight years living on the coast," he said.
"I do feel settled here now, it was a big move originally, but together with the rest of the team, I think we are now more comfortable in our environment, both on and off the field."
The No.1 pick in the 2010 NAB AFL Draft, Swallow has played 52 games for the Suns.
Gold Coast list and strategy manager Scott Clayton said the multi-year deal was a huge boost for the club.
"We have been in a very unique position in the way that we have built our club and playing list," Clayton said.
"David was the first player we acquired through the draft and we are really pleased to once again extend his contract with the club.
"This year he joined Dion Prestia and Tom Lynch as vice-captains. All three of these players were selected in our inaugural draft and further demonstrates the enormous impact they will have on our football club going forward."
