Lamb has the height and athleticism to play nearly any position on the ground but was used mainly through the wing, midfield and forward line for the Academy in its 21.11 (137) to 6.6 (42) victory at the Harrow School.
At 191cm Lamb is strong in the air and kicks the ball well but can do other things that make him a unique and highly-rated prospect: run quick and long (he's the best beep-tester in the Academy), jump high, get himself out of tight spots, and find a way to move the ball forward.
Aside from the 17-year-old Victorian there were many other draft hopefuls to push their case against the Legion, a 26-man team made up of players from around Europe coached by Tadhg Kennelly.
Midfielder Isaac Heeney got things going in the opening term with his willingness to run and link up play, and Lachie Weller also gathered plenty of the ball around the stoppages and made quick, smart decisions with it.
Behind Lamb, Hugh Goddard (four goals) was the leading goalkicker for the Academy side, which was coached by AIS assistant Glen Jakovich in place of head coach Brad Johnson, who had to return to Australia earlier for work commitments.
Powerful forward Christian Petracca booted three goals and hunted for the ball when it was in his area, while Clem Smith and Jarrod Pickett ran the ball through the wings. The West Australian indigenous pair look likely early draft selections.
The Academy kicked seven goals to none in the first quarter and looked set to record an enormous win, but the European Legion were more competitive in the second and third terms before the Academy kicked seven majors in the final quarter.
The Legion team was led by Port Adelaide's international recruit Daniel Flynn, who kicked a goal and showed his speed and power through the middle of the ground. Flynn's kicking – on both feet – was also excellent and underlined his talent as an AFL prospect.
Conor McKenna was exciting again after his four-goal effort in this week's intra-club match, while Sean Hurley, Sam Willatt and Paddy Brophy also tried hard for the Europeans.
A couple of the Academy's most promising tall draft prospects did not play, with Sam Durdin (thumb) and Patrick McCartin (finger) recovering from their injuries.
Durdin, who had surgery earlier this year, is expecting to return to action within the next three weeks, while McCartin is nursing a small finger injury and is likely to play again in two weeks.
The Academy will leave London on Sunday and head to Milan to the Australian Institute of Sport's European training centre in Gavirate, Northern Italy.
