THE AFL will hold its second women's draft at Etihad Stadium on Monday night (tonight, May 19).

The Western Bulldogs and Melbourne Football Clubs will make 12 selections each, from a pool of 284 nominated players, to determine their final sides for the women's exhibition match on June 29.

Both sides have already retained 13 players who played in the first version of the game last year, with last season's No. 1 pick – Daisy Pearce – remaining with the Demons.

AFL general manager of people, customer and community, Dorothy Hisgrove, said it was fantastic to see 284 players nominate for the draft.

"The inaugural women's exhibition match was a great success last year and I look forward to seeing the best female football talent selected at the draft playing in this year's match in round 15," she said.

Bulldogs president Peter Gordon and vice-president Susan Alberti will be in attendance, with Alberti presenting the Bulldogs' guernseys.

Melbourne co-captain Jack Grimes will be on hand to present the Demons' guernseys.

The teams will again be coached by Peta Searle (Western Bulldogs), formerly an assistant coach with Port Melbourne in the VFL, and Michelle Cowan (Melbourne).

The women's match will be held prior to the round 15 meeting between the Western Bulldogs and Melbourne at Etihad Stadium on Sunday, June 29.
