GEELONG veteran James Kelly will play on with the Cats in 2015, having re-signed to extend his career into a 14th season.

Kelly, 30, had been set to become an unrestricted free agent at the end of this season but his name was missing from the AFL's updated list of 2014 free agents released on Monday.

Geelong has not announced Kelly's re-signing but AFL.com.au understands the 243-game veteran recently agreed to play on for another season.

Todd Goldstein's name was on the updated free agency list despite the ruckman agreeing to a two-year deal with North Melbourne two weeks ago, with his new contract yet to be lodged with the AFL.

The Western Bulldogs still have the most free agents in the competition with six, having not re-signed any of their free agents since the AFL's initial list was released in March.

St Kilda is also yet to re-sign any of its five free agents, while the Sydney Swans and West Coast each have four remaining free agents on their lists.

Three of the nine restricted free agents named in March have officially re-signed with their clubs: Collingwood's Ben Reid, North's Lachlan Hansen and West Coast's Shannon Hurn.

Six of this year's unrestricted free agents have re-signed: Carlton's Michael Jamison and Kade Simpson, Fremantle's Garrick Ibbotson, Kelly, North's Leigh Adams and Richmond's Shane Edwards.

Melbourne defender James Frawley, Carlton midfielder Bryce Gibbs, Fremantle on-baller David Mundy and Bulldogs defender Shaun Higgins are among the biggest names remaining in the 2014 free agency pool.
