Lake has missed the past five games with a calf injury, while Stratton has been sidelined for three matches with an adductor issue.
Their return would give the Hawks a massive boost before they tackle the Pies' tall forward line, led by the in-form Travis Cloke, who booted six goals in a losing cause against the Western Bulldogs on Sunday.
"I think 'Lakey' and Ben Stratton are both available this week, so whether it be Box Hill or AFL, but they'll be certainly playing football somewhere," Lewis said on Monday.
With reigning best-and-fairest Josh Gibson also out of action, Ryan Schoenmakers and Matt Spangher have manned the key defensive posts in the past two games.
They held West Coast forwards Jeremy McGovern and Jack Darling to three goals two weeks ago but were exposed at times against Carlton last Friday night – particularly by Levi Casboult, who slotted four majors in the Hawks' 28-point win.
"Levi Casboult is a big man and he played really well and he's probably hard to stop, so they (Collingwood) will be looking at (trying to) isolate our defenders so you've really got to defend one-on-one," Lewis said.
"I think if we can bring the ball to ground, especially against Cloke and those big forwards, I think we'll have a chance."
The Hawks have an outstanding recent record against the Pies – winning the past five clashes since Collingwood's 2011 preliminary final triumph.
But Lewis believes nothing should be read into Hawthorn’s recent advantage over Collingwood.
"It's irrelevant. We won't speak about it at all this week. Past experiences count for nothing," Lewis said.
"We understand that they're coming off a surprising loss so they will be coming out to really redeem themselves and that's what we've got to prepare for."
Collingwood's slip up against the Bulldogs means the Hawks (9-3) could land a near knockout blow to the Pies' (8-4) top four hopes at the MCG on Saturday.
While Collingwood is walking a tightrope, the Hawks have successfully negotiated a tricky period without some of their biggest stars – largely thanks to Lewis' stellar output.
The 204-game veteran is averaging 26 touches a game this season and he admitted he's in career-best form.
"I think so. I think over the past probably month or six weeks I've really been contributing a bit more in terms of disposals and probably hitting the scoreboard," he said.
"So that's nice to know, but you've got to just maintain that consistency and play your role really because then everyone else benefits from that."
