Redden posted a photo on social media site Instagram on Monday night with his left foot in a moonboot.
He will see a specialist later in the week to determine the extent of the injury, but did not train with his teammates at the Gabba on Tuesday morning.
In further devastating news for the Lions, utility Brent Staker will not get on the park in 2014 after also sustaining a stress fracture in his foot.
Staker was due to play in the NEAFL this weekend for the first time this season after recovering from a rare calf injury before his latest setback.
Redden's injury could break one of the great streaks in AFL history.
The 23-year-old has not missed a game since his debut against Geelong in round 15, 2009 and has played the fifth most games since debut without missing.
