BRISBANE Lions midfielder Jack Redden will miss the remainder of the season after undergoing surgery on Friday morning.
Redden, 23, has a stress fracture in his left ankle and had surgery to remove bone spurs that caused the injury.
He had played 112 successive games since making his debut in round 15, 2009 – the fifth longest unbroken streak since debut in AFL history.
Redden could have undergone a less invasive surgery and been available for the final two or three matches of the year, but the club chose a more cautious approach.
Taking the aggressive line would have required further surgery post-season and compromised Redden's 2015 pre-season.
He will now be fully fit at the start of pre-season.
Redden has averaged 24 disposals and 7 tackles a game in 2014.
