North opts against appealing veteran's three-match ban
BRENT Harvey will miss North Melbourne's elimination final after the club decided to accept the three-match suspension handed to him by the Tribunal for a misconduct offence against Western Bulldogs tagger Liam Picken.
The Kangaroos announced on Wednesday morning that they would not be lodging an appeal, meaning Harvey will be sidelined for the club's last two home and away games against Adelaide and Melbourne and the opening weekend of the finals.
"We were obviously extremely disappointed with the severity of the suspension at the Tribunal last night but acknowledge we received a fair hearing," North's director of football Geoff Walsh told nmfc.com.au.
"Immediately after the decision was announced, and through until this morning, we have been exploring our avenues for an appeal.
"However, we have been unable to identify anything that could help reduce the penalty for Brent.
"If we could appeal the decision we would, but the reality is there are simply no grounds for it given the circumstances and the way the case played out."
North will go into Saturday's clash against the Crows in Hobart without two of its most important midfielders after Daniel Wells accepted a one-match ban for two incidents involving Dogs player Shaun Higgins.
