Melbourne CEO announces he will stick with the club at least another year
MELBOURNE chief executive Peter Jackson will continue in his role until at least 2015, with the Demons announcing the contract extension at Thursday night's best and fairest count.
Jackson will remain in the key role on an ongoing basis until October next year, with the potential of continuing thereafter.
Demons president Glen Bartlett commended Jackson for his work since taking the position in May 2013.
"Peter has done an outstanding job in the role of CEO of the club and the board is delighted that he will be continuing on in the role," Bartlett said.
"Some important foundations have been laid for our club in the past 18 months and having Peter’s experience and leadership to take us through the next phase of our development is a great result for the club."
Jackson said he was determined to keep working hard to take Melbourne to the destination it wants to reach.
"I've always said that it's important to me to feel like I can make a contribution to the club in a meaningful way and I have a lot of passion to continue building on the work the club has done to date," he said.
"I look forward to this next phase and believe the club is well placed to take some important steps forward as we head into 2015."
Jackson was the chief instigator in bringing Paul Roos in as senior coach, also overseeing Roos' recent recommitment to the club until the end of the 2016 season.
