Started as the sub and came into the game at quarter-time due to Nick Malceski's injury. Moved into the midfield immediately and worked hard winning a couple of clearances and some telling contested possessions.

 

Had a key role running with Stephen Hill and did a good job. Didn't win a lot of possessions, just 13 in total, but played his part.

 

Made his presence felt and threatened to break the game open in the first quarter but missed two set shots from 50m. Was well held by Alex Silvagni in the second and third terms before kicking two of the best goals of the year in the last that were daggers into Fremantle hearts.

Had some opportunities to really stamp his mark on the game up forward but didn't quite take them. Looked dangerous throughout the match but finished with just the one goal.

 

Was a key part of a very solid defensive unit that kept the in-form Dockers forward line to just 10 goals. He had 19 touches and took seven marks dropping off Matt Taberner often to help out Ted Richards.

 

Was one of the Swans' best setting the standard at the contest. He had Ryan Crowley for company most of the afternoon but just outworked the tagger and beat him. He finished with 27 touches, 14 contested, and kicked a goal in the last quarter.

 

Worked hard through the midfield as per usual. Was dominant in the centre clearances. Dislocated a finger in the second quarter but it did affect his output. Kicked an important goal late in the third term.

 

Provided great outside run in the wet conditions and was a dominant winner in his match-up with Danyle Pearce. He gathered 26 possessions and kicked 1.2. He had seven inside 50s and was key contributor throughout. 

 

Didn't have his usual impact coming back from his hamstring injury but was still very effective. Gathered 22 touches but faded later in the game, which is understandable without the match fitness.

 

Showed incredible composure and sure hands in his first final. Hardly made an error in the first half and displayed crisp, clean hands and cool decision-making under pressure. Finished with 24 disposals.

 

Managed three touches and a flying shot at goal in the first 10 minutes before coming off the ground and going down to the rooms to have his left hamstring assessed. He never returned and was subbed out at quarter-time.

 

Was a very influential figure. He kicked a goal in each of the first three quarters but had his biggest impact in the second half when he began to get on top of Lee Spurr. Three goals in the wet was an outstanding return.

Showed his experience and composure shifting to half-back in the second term after Malceski was subbed out of the game at quarter-time. Set up an important goal to Kurt Tippett in the second term.

 

Kicked an early goal from a free kick but got caught one out with Nat Fyfe in defence and conceded a mark and goal. Thereafter he dominated in close as the leading contested ball winner on the ground. Finished with 32 touches and was arguably the best man on the ground.

 

Fought manfully against the man-mountain Aaron Sandilands and got stronger as the game went on. His running power in the last quarter was critical as he worked back into defence to take a key mark and he also pushed forward, running 50m past three Dockers to gather a bouncing ball in the goal square and kick a crucial goal.

 

Was very reliable in defence playing the majority of the day on Michael Walters. Kept the dangerous left footer to one goal and laid a sensational goal-saving tackle on Walters' partner in crime Hayden Ballantyne.

 

Pretty quiet day from Reid as conditions didn't suit him up forward. He did push into defence in the last quarter to take a crucial mark on the last line.

 

Marked Matthew Pavlich and did a good job despite the fact the Fremantle skipper kicked four goals. All of Pavlich's goals came from general play. Richards led Pavlich to the football in a number of one on ones.  

 

Two horror mistakes in defence in the first quarter led to two Dockers goals. He worked hard throughout the day and kept finding the football but his foot skills let him down badly at times.

 

Produced some trademark run and dash off half-back and was a key driver out of defence for the Swans. He gathered 23 disposals and had a couple of goal assists.

 

Ran with Hayden Ballantyne and did a sensational job. He kept the Dockers' leading goalkicker to just seven touches and no goals. Smith also gathered 25 disposals in a superb performance.

 

Mixed his time between the ruck and deep forward where Zac Dawson manned him. The wet conditions were not ideal for Tippett and he didn't have a big impact.
