Allen Christensen needs more back surgery, ruling out a finals return
GEELONG midfielder Allen Christensen's season is over after it was determined he requires further surgery on his troublesome back.
The 23-year-old missed the first 13 weeks of the season following surgery on his back in February, the path taken after he experienced pain in the lumbar disc of his lower back.
Christensen returned for the game against Gold Coast in round 14, but was sidelined with back soreness for last weekend's qualifying finals loss to Hawthorn.
After battling through training this week, he was again declared unfit to take his place in Geelong's team for Friday night's semi-final against North Melbourne.
Sad way to end the year. Highlight of the year besides getting back on the park was shutting down Dermott Brereton on radio! Go Cats!
