KYLE Hardingham's search for a new football home has officially kicked-off after he was one of four Essendon players delisted on Wednesday.

The Bombers announced Hardingham, Sean Gregory and Johnny Rayner will not be offered new contracts for next season, while small forward Leroy Jetta recently told the club that he wanted to explore his options via free agency.

The versatile Hardingham last month asked to be traded due to a lack of opportunities and because the club's supplements scandal had reportedly "worn him down", but he wasn't picked up during the NAB AFL Trade Period.

Bombers tracked ruckman Giles for four years

Hardingham played 65 games for the Bombers since he was recruited during the 2010 pre-season draft.

He started his career as a high-leaping forward before making a name for himself in defence, where he played 43 games across the 2011 and '12 seasons.

Voted Essendon's best team player last year, the 26-year-old played the first six games in 2014 but only managed two more appearances – the last coming in round 16 – despite strong VFL form.

After eight years with the Bombers, Jetta and the club agreed to split after the small forward fell down the pecking order and struggled to break into the side.

He finishes his Essendon career on 93 games – only two of those coming in 2014 – after being selected with pick No.18 in the 2006 draft.

Gregory, a lightly-framed 195cm key defender, was taken with the Bombers' last pick in the 2012 national draft but did not play a game.

Rayner, 23, failed to play a match after coming from an athletics background and being placed on the Bombers' B-category rookie list at the end of last year.

Essendon's general manager of football operations Robb Kerr wished the delisted players well for their futures.

“The club would like to thank all four men for their contribution and dedication during their time at Essendon,” Kerr said.

“On behalf of everyone at the club we wish them every success in the future, both on and off the field.”

Players cut loose by their clubs have the chance to find new homes when the delisted fee agent period commences on Saturday, November 1.
