Membrey to officially join Saints as a delisted free agent
Former Swan to officially join St Kilda on Saturday as a delisted free agent
FORMER Swan Tim Membrey will officially join St Kilda on Saturday when the delisted free agency period opens.
Membrey, who was delisted by the Swans when first list lodgments were completed on Friday, will join the Saints immediately.
The 20-year-old had hoped to land at St Kilda during the exchange period, but the two clubs couldn't agree on a trade.
The Saints always had the option of obtaining Membrey with the first selection in the pre-season draft, but will now be able to use that pick on another player.
"I'm delighted to have a player of Tim's calibre join the club," coach Alan Richardson said.
"While it is still very early in Tim's football journey he has the potential to play a significant role in the forward line, developing into the midfield as he builds endurance.
"His kicking and marking, as well as his aggressive attack on the footy are real strengths."
Chief operating officer Ameet Bains confirmed Membrey will link with the club on Wednesday when players return for pre-season training.
"We are really pleased that official paperwork will be lodged to allow Tim to train when the first to four year players return from their break," Bains said.
"From a list management perspective he has attributes that complement our current playing group and we think he will be a great addition in 2015."
