TWO OF the Western Bulldogs’ most exciting players have signed contract extensions.
On Wednesday, the Dogs confirmed Jake Stringer and Jack Macrae had agreed to contract extensions earlier this week.
They will both remain at the Western Bulldogs until at least the end of the 2018 season.
Stringer and Macrae were the fifth and sixth pick of the 2012 NAB AFL Draft.
Dogs can add more bite up forward, says Stringer
Bulldogs list manager Jason McCartney said the club was excited about Stringer and Macrae’s room for improvement.
"Both Jack and Jake have displayed encouraging signs in the early parts of their careers, and although they have really just scratched the surface of their potential, both young men are integral parts of our future," McCartney said.
Both players were contracted until the end of 2016 but Macrae said it was an easy decision to commit long-term.
"It was a pretty easy decision - as soon as it was put forward I was pretty keen to sign it and put it away," he said.
"We've got a pretty tight-knit young group here."
Stringer said he wanted to be a one-club player and he believed the current crop of players could build something special in the coming years.
"I want to stay here for the rest of my career so it was an easy decision to stay with the club," Stringer said.
"We've got an exciting group - in the next two or three years, hopefully we’ve got 60 or 70 games under our belt and hopefully we can strive towards something great."
