ADAM GOODES has come through his much-discussed NEAFL debut unscathed and says he's prepared to play multiple games in the Swans' reserves side until he's worked his way back into John Longmire's best team.

The dual Brownlow medallist was a rare winner for the Swans' reserves, kicking three goals in a side well beaten by GWS' reserves at Tramway Oval outside the SCG on Saturday.

Goodes says the hit out – in front of a small, but energetic crowd - was exactly what he needed after a lack of game time in the opening two games of the AFL season, and he's ready to play seniors when called upon.

"If I'm ready to play my role next week so be it. We're obviously in some really good form in the ones, we've got some really good players, playing some good roles, if it takes two or three weeks then so be it," Goodes said.

"I needed to get some minutes under my belt. I haven’t really got a lot in the last month, so it's good to run out here on this deck and play some big minutes."

The Swans great covered plenty of ground playing through the midfield, often working deep into defence to find the footy, but was also influential around the stoppages.

Goodes was clean with his ball-handling throughout the match and this was never more evident than in the final term. Showing all his class and experience, the four-time All Australian roved a ruck tap off a boundary throw-in and slotted a goal from outside the 50-metre arc on the run.

Later in the quarter, Goodes again read the ball perfectly off a marking contest and booted his third major of the day, which drew plenty of cheers from Swans fans and his teammates.

While happy with his form and contribution on the scoreboard, the club’s games record holder said his eyes were still very much on his return to senior footy.

"It's all about playing the minutes, playing my role. It's not so much about touches it's all about getting the minutes under my belt," Goodes said.

Goodes revealed that his decision to play reserves this week instead of donning the green vest in the derby against Greater Western Sydney, was also all about his ambitions for the rest of the season.

"I want to play a role for the team and I think playing the sub today doesn't put my plan for the next month, of playing in the 21, into good effect," Goodes said.

"(It’s important that I) get some good minutes in this week, see what happens, see what it looks like on the tape, and if I need to go again (in the reserves) next week - we'll decide during the week."
