GEELONG has named a shock substitute, with star midfielder Steve Johnson to start in that role for the first time in his career against North Melbourne at Simonds Stadium on Sunday.
North midfielder Jack Ziebell has also been passed fit to play just a week after suffering bruising in his lungs after a collision with Port Adelaide opponent Ollie Wines last Saturday night.
Johnson has begun 2015 quietly, with the three-time premiership player averaging 22 disposals.
North debutant Trent Dumont will start in the green vest for the Kangaroos.
Geelong spearhead Tom Hawkins will play his 150th game, a week after the death of his mother Jennifer.
