1. Bad omen
The Giants arrived in Perth with horrid memories of some big losses, and of being on the wrong end of an 11-goal haul from Josh Kennedy and a 111-point defeat last season. So to see him with a mark inside 50 after just 12 seconds in the match, and to watch him convert the set shot must have sent shivers down the GWS coaching team's collective spines. Kennedy was dominant again and the result wasn't much better, although it did cut the Giants average losing margin in Perth, which was 99 points before last night. Against the Eagles they've lost all four games by 81, 100, 111 and now 87 points.

2. On fire
Elliot Yeo slipped through Brisbane's fingers a couple of seasons ago and had significant injury issues in his first year at West Coast last year, but he has started this season in fine form and his second term against the Giants was nothing short of sensational. Yeo had 14 disposals, seven marks, a tackle, three inside-50s and two score assists in 23 minutes of magic for the Eagles. It helped them slam on five unanswered goals for the quarter. He even managed to sit on the bench for five minutes in the 28-minute term.

3. Shoot out
On a perfect dry night in Perth two of the league's leading goal kickers quickly got on the board. Josh Kennedy entered the round three goals clear on top with 16 and had two within the first 10 minutes. Cam McCarthy came into the round equal second with 13 majors and had his first after just five minutes. Kennedy had a spell off the field with an injured arm in the second term but returned to finish with six goals to jump to 22 for the season. But McCarthy's night never got going and he ended with just that solitary goal.

4. Beacon in Giant flop
Dylan Shiel had a career best 39 disposals in round four against Gold Coast and continued in that vein at Domain Stadium. The former Dandenong junior was tireless, starting in the centre next to Matt Priddis and running the lines all night. He ended with 36 possessions and can hold his head high despite the big loss.
5. Door opens for Eagles
West Coast kept its spot in the top eight with its third win of the year and have a chance to get a toehold in the higher echelon with games against Gold Coast and St Kilda in the next three weeks. The Giants reality check box might get another work out next weekend against the Hawks, although it will be at home and the premiers could be without a couple of their big stars with Luke Hodge and Jordan Lewis possibly facing bans after the North Melbourne match.
