GREATER Western Sydney coach Leon Cameron says he has great confidence out-of-contract midfielder Dylan Shiel will resist overtures from his home state and remain with the Giants.
Amid speculation several Victorian clubs are chasing the rising Giant, Cameron said the former Dandenong junior wanted to stay in Sydney.
Shiel, 22, has taken his game a new level this year, averaging over 28 possessions a game and coming second in the AFL Coaches' Association player of the year award.
Earlier this season he appeared to leave the door open to a return when he said after round one: "I won't lie, it's always hard obviously with family down in Melbourne and friends but like any player you go through challenges."
But Cameron insisted Shiel wants to remain a Giant.
"Dylan Shiel wants to be part of our footy club," Cameron said after the 87-point loss to West Coast at Domain Stadium.

Cameron is confident that Shiel and other out of contract youngsters such as Adam Treloar, Will Hoskin-Elliott and Stephen Coniglio were all pulling towards the greater goal.

"The good thing that gives me great confidence is these young lads look at me in the eye and say they want to be at our footy club," Cameron said.
"They want to be part of something special.
"They know there's going to be some ups and downs. Tonight was a down, and we've got to acknowledge that.
"But they clearly want to be part of this club, because they've been here from the start. They want to be a part of something that hopefully we can build to take to this club to the ultimate."
