BRISBANE Lions captain Tom Rockliff will have to pass concussion tests through the week to be available for Sunday's match against Carlton.
Rockliff was cleared of a broken jaw after being knocked out in the opening minutes of Saturday's loss against Gold Coast, but was concussed and is being tested extensively.
There's no respite on the injury front for the winless Lions, with full-back Daniel Merrett (hamstring) unlikely to be available after missing the past three matches.
Brent Staker (hamstring) is being scanned on Monday afternoon, but is likely to miss a minimum of one week.
Rockliff has played a total of just six quarters this season after suffering a punctured lung and broken ribs in round one against Collingwood.
"He's away from the club today, and he'll do concussion tests during the course of the week to see how he progresses," Lions football manager Dean Warren said.
"We'll monitor him really closely – he has to pass the test before he plays."
Young forward Jono Freeman (glute) and ruckmen Trent West (knee) and Archie Smith (knee) are all expected to return through the NEAFL in two weeks.
