RICHMOND forward Ty Vickery has escaped serious damage to his ankle and knee, but the club still expects him to be sidelined for up to a fortnight.

However, the news is worse for midfielder Reece Conca who could miss up to six weeks after injuring his hamstring while playing for the Tigers' VFL team against the Casey Scorpions on Saturday night.

Vickery sustained minor damage to his ankle and bone bruising in his knee after falling awkwardly in a tackle in the second quarter of the Tigers' 33-point win over Port Adelaide on Sunday.

The pair rolled in for scans at the Olympic Park scanning centre on Monday morning, with Vickery telling AFL.com.au he is prepared to do everything in his power to win his spot back.

"You've got to fight for your spot in good teams and that's what I'm here to do, so I'm looking forward to the challenge," Vickery said.

Veteran defender Chris Newman will remain sidelined for at least the next two weeks after failing to overcome a groin issue that has kept him out of the past two matches.

Meanwhile, young forward Liam McBean (thumb) will face a fitness test later in the week to determine his availability for the Tigers' Dreamtime at the G clash against Essendon on Saturday night.
