SYDNEY Swans coach John Longmire believes Richmond's variety in attack will be tough to counter when the Tigers head to the SCG on Friday night.

The visitors' three tall options, Jack Riewoldt, Ty Vickery and Ben Griffiths, are all in good form, while star midfielders Dustin Martin and Brett Deledio have also had a scoreboard impact in recent weeks.

Longmire says the Tigers' different options will certainly pose problems for his experienced defence.

"I think they've had discussions about playing three talls in the past and they've certainly been able to come in and play those roles," Longmire said on Monday.

"Then you've got Dustin Martin who you throw in that mix, who's a very good contested ball player, and contested mark player as well, so they've got a very good balance through there as well.

"We've got to make sure our defence continues to be flexible and adaptable, and continue to play a really strong defensive game, and get that balance right between offence and defence."

Richmond will head to the harbour city with confidence despite coming off a loss to West Coast, after winning four games on the trot before last Friday’s disappointment.

Damien Hardwick's men also won their last game against the Swans in Sydney, when they upset the home side by three points in round 23 last season at ANZ Stadium.

Longmire says the Tigers have plenty of match-winners and it's no coincidence that it's those players who have led their season revival.

"Their good players have been playing really well, whether it's Deledio, Martin as a midfield forward kicking goals in big moments, Jack Riewoldt has changed his role a little bit," Longmire said.

"Their ball movement going forward has been very efficient, which has added to their lack of scores against.

"It took a good West Coast team to beat their run of wins. The Tigers went down but they'd be really happy with their form."

The Swans are confident of having key defender Heath Grundy (knee) available to counter one of the Tigers' three big forwards, after he was injured against North Melbourne before the bye.

Longmire revealed that the speedy Ben McGlynn still hasn't recovered from a hamstring injury, while exciting youngster Isaac Heeney will be back in action after missing five games with a knee.

The round three NAB AFL Rising Star nominee hasn't played since hurting his right knee against Melbourne in round six, but won't be rushed straight into the senior line-up.

"Isaac will play but he'll come back through the reserves, he hasn't quite got a gold card just yet,' Longmire said.
