GEELONG has signed Jordan Murdoch for three years, tying him to the club until the end of 2018.
The 23-year-old has been a regular in the seniors for the past two seasons and was among the club's best in Saturday night's disappointing 41-point loss to North Melbourne at Etihad Stadium.
Drafted with pick No.48 in the 2011 NAB AFL Draft, the quick left-footer took some time to find his feet but has performed well as a midfielder this season after playing more as a high half-forward in 2014.
Murdoch told the club's website he was excited to commit to the Cats.
"I have really enjoyed playing in the midfield this season, and I have set myself to become an inside midfielder in the years to come," he said.
"I will also continue to pride myself on being versatile. I know that the coaches will need me to contribute in a range of different roles over the coming years."
Geelong coach Chris Scott said earlier in the season Murdoch was developing into a consistent player with the Cats and the coaching staff were happy with the progress he had made in recent seasons.
He is the third young Cat to re-sign with the club in the past three weeks, with Tom Hawkins and Jackson Thurlow also signing long-term deals.
