FORMER Melbourne captain Brad Green will continue his assistant coaching career at North Melbourne after he was released by Carlton.
Green, 34, will be the Roos' new defensive assistant after spending three years at the Blues under Mick Malthouse and interim coach John Barker.
He was not retained by Malthouse's replacement, former Hawthorn assistant Brendon Bolton.
Green said he was thrilled at the opportunity offered by North.
"Coming to a club with such a strong history - and a club that's played in the last two preliminary finals - I'm really looking forward to the challenge, and it's an exciting challenge.
"Looking from afar I've really enjoyed the way North play the game and certainly hope we can go one step further and, like everyone else around the club, play on that last day in September."
Green's appointment completes North's assistant coaching group under senior coach Brad Scott for 2016.
Darren Crocker has been promoted to director of coaching, while Leigh Tudor will take charge of the forward line. Josh Drummond is the midfield assistant coach and Jarred Moore, who was previously a development coach at North, will be in charge of the midfield and stoppages.
