BRISBANE Lions legend Jonathan Brown is returning to live in Victoria after more than 15 years up north.

The triple Lions premiership hero is relocating his family from his South East Queensland home to take up a co-hosting job on FM radio.

Brown has been confirmed as the co-host of Nova 100's new breakfast show beginning in January next year.

Knocking back possible analytical roles as a special comments man on the radio airwaves, the former Lions skipper, will start his day before dawn, five days a week in the medium's most competitive timeslot.

A Nova spokesperson confirmed to AFL.com.au Brown would be relocating to Melbourne with wife Kylie and their three children, rather than co-hosting the show remotely from Queensland.

"Jonathan will be moving his family to Melbourne and will be co-hosting the show with Chrissie and Sam live from the Nova studios in Melbourne from 6am, five days a week, in January 2016," the spokesperson said.

He'll join former Big Brother contestant Chrissie Swan and AFL.com.au Friday Front Bar panelistSam Pang on the new show.

"I'm ready to drag my backside out of bed again after 18 months in retirement," Brown said. 

"I can't wait to get some motherly advice from Chrissie and for Sam to bring my coffee in every morning."

Swan added: "I'm not too across the footy but Browny loves The Bachelor so we'll be fine."

The five-time Lions leading goalkicker played 256 games from 2000 to 2014.

Brown was born and raised in Warnambool, in Victoria's west, but was drafted to the Lions under the father-son rule. His father Brian played 51 games for Fitzroy.
