COLLINGWOOD defender Tom Langdon has undergone surgery on the meniscus in his right knee after experiencing soreness prior to the Christmas break.
The 21-year-old went in for the minor operation earlier this week after his knee flared up at training.
The Magpies do not expect a lengthy stint on the sidelines and believe Langdon could be running by early January.
He will attend the club's training camp on the Sunshine Coast in early January but is set to be on a restricted program.
Langdon has become an integral part of Collingwood's developing backline, having played 41 games since being selected with pick No.65 in the 2013 NAB AFL Draft.
Magpies skipper Scott Pendlebury has escaped serious injury, despite being spotted with an ice pack strapped to his lower right leg at the end of training on Friday.
The Pies were quick to allay any fears around the four-time Copeland Trophy winner, saying Pendlebury suffered a 'corkie' to his right shin in a training drill.
His leg flared immediately and Collingwood took a no-risk approach with the ice pack and by pulling him out of training.
