LAST year the Cats missed finals action for the first time since 2006. Although they only secured 11 wins, some of their players really shone in AFL Fantasy.

Mark Blicavs (RUC/MID, $539,000) was one of the biggest improvers in the League running through the Geelong midfield. He averaged an incredible 97 in just his third season and will now look to take his game to a triple-figure average.

Steven Motlop (FWD/MID, $496,000) also had his best year in Fantasy averaging 90 in 2015 and will prove to be a great flexible option with his dual-position eligibility.

With some of the reliable Geelong veterans moving on, Corey Enright (DEF, $505,000) will stay and once again get the legs moving for his sixteenth season.

The Cats were busy over the trade period securing some big name players. Out with the old, and in with the new is their approach heading into season 2016 as they re-group and eye off another finals appearance.

More importantly, who are we eyeing off in our Fantasy teams?

Joel Selwood (MID, $541,000): With the arrival of Patrick Dangerfield, surely this will make life easier for Joel Selwood who has been the No.1 tagged player at the Cats for many years. He averaged less than 100 for the first time in the last six years in 2015, and with more attention now heading towards Dangerfield, Selwood should be back to his very best.

Scott Selwood (MID, $326,000): Over many years, Scott Selwood has burned me more times than a Jake Carlisle Snapchat. He had a stand-out season in 2013 (avg. 108) but has been battling injuries ever since. He managed just 12 games last year and is priced cheaply at an average of 58. He is currently being managed by the Cats after major off-season ankle surgery, but at the age of only 25, he’s certainly one to not cross off your watch-list just yet.

Jimmy Bartel (DEF/MID, $494,000): Last year, Bartel was listed as a FWD/MID and in 2016 he’ll tempt many coaches with his new status. Due to injuries and only managing 12 games, he is coming off his worst Fantasy season in 10 years. Priced at an average of just 89, he’s DEFinitely on my radar.

Patrick Dangerfield (MID, $589,000): Dangerfield arrives at Geelong on the back of his best Fantasy season that saw him average a huge 106. He’s very expensive and joining a new club can come with its challenges, so he’ll be an upgrade target for me throughout the season.

Sam Menegola (MID, $127,000): After failing to score a game with two other AFL clubs, Menegola is a 23-year-old ball magnet, hoping his luck is about to change. Last year in the WAFL he averaged 27 touches a game and finished third in the Sandover Medal, which is remarkable considering he only played in the last 12 games. Remember the name and cross your fingers he’s named for round one.

Mitch Duncan (MID, $442,000): Priced at an average of 80, Mitch Duncan sure has plenty to offer. In his 11 games in 2015, he started to show what he was truly capable of with monster scores of 133 and 137. Duncan averaged 95 in 2014 and has the potential to take his Fantasy game to the next level.

Lachie Henderson (FWD, $337,000): One club’s trash is another club’s treasure, right? Ah, no. Henderson averaged just 61 last year for the Blues and although I can see a small amount of upside with him at Geelong, you just couldn’t pick him with confidence.
