NORTH Melbourne ruckman Majak Daw has been upgraded to the primary list. 

As foreshadowed by AFL.com.au in January, Daw will be a back-up for 2015 All-Australian ruck Todd Goldstein.

Daw was delisted at the end of last year but was re-drafted as a rookie.

The 25-year-old played in North's opening two pre-season games against St Kilda and Collingwood.

North Melbourne assistant coach Josh Drummond said Daw's ability to also play forward could be especially advantageous with the elimination of the sub rule.

"It’s going to be new and every team will attack it in a different way. It just gives us more flexibility as to how we pick the team," Drummond told the club website.

"We’ve seen what he can do in small spurts, but the ability to get a pre-season together will help him be more consistent in games."

Daw only played two games in 2015 but finished the season with a bang, with a strong performance against Richmond in round 23. Todd Goldstein was being rested in preparation for finals.

He has played 16 games in his career and kicked 17 goals, after first coming to the club in the 2010 rookie draft.

The Kangaroos have one spot remaining on their primary list after Ed Vickers-Willis was placed on the long-term injury list.
