COLLINGWOOD is set to trial more night-time training sessions in 2016, in an attempt to replicate match conditions.
The Magpies will train under lights on their Olympic Park training oval on Tuesday night.
The side will be seeking redemption for its shocking start to the season against the Sydney Swans when it takes on Richmond at the MCG on Friday night.
As part of the revised schedule, the Pies players are not required to arrive at the club's Holden Centre headquarters until mid-afternoon.
They'll then go through regular meetings and undertake normal commitments before hitting the track in the evenings.
The team did have a couple of evening training sessions last season, and the playing group believes training at a similar time to that week's match could have added benefit.
"We did it a couple of times last year and we'll have a look at it early in the season and see how we go through winter," coach Nathan Buckley said on Tuesday.
"We won both games when we did it last year – that's a noticeable benefit – and the players enjoy it, it changes it up a little bit."
