A HAMSTRING injury is set to keep Adelaide midfielder David Mackay out of Friday night's clash with Geelong at the Adelaide Oval.
Mackay sat out the majority of the last quarter of Saturday night's 15-point loss to the Western Bulldogs at Etihad Stadium.
The 27-year-old will have scans to determine the extent of the injury, but Adelaide's general manager of high performance Brett Burton said the club was resigned to Mackay missing the highly-anticipated return of Geelong superstar Patrick Dangerfield.
"He (Mackay) is unlikely to play this week," Burton said.
"We'll get some further information on that hamstring in the next few days, but with a short turnaround he'll struggle to play (on Friday night)."
Mackay's absence could allow the Crows to recall Jarryd Lyons, who was an unlucky omission from the team that lost to the Bulldogs.
Lyons had a quiet game in the SANFL last weekend with 15 touches, three tackles and two clearances in Adelaide's four-point win against North Adelaide.
Mitch Grigg put his hand up for a spot in the senior side with 24 possessions, seven marks, six inside-50s, five tackles and four clearances.
Exciting 18-year-old forward Wayne Milera could also be in consideration after being an emergency last weekend.
Burton said captain Taylor Walker was fit to face Geelong after copping a knock to the knee against the Bulldogs, while gun defender Rory Laird will miss at least another week.
