WESTERN Bulldogs key forward Tom Boyd is set to resume through the VFL this weekend after missing past six weeks with a shoulder injury.
The 20-year-old originally sustained damage back in February on the club's community camp in Ballarat, but re-injured the shoulder in round-four win over Carlton.
Bulldogs' football manager Graham Lowe said the 2013 No.1 pick has had a thorough rehabilitation.
"Tom's got through all the strengthening work that we wanted him to get done and has done the extra training we needed him to do," Lowe told the club's website.
"He'll be involved in full training this week with a view to being available for selection, which is great news."
Coach Luke Beveridge has suggested Boyd might be put in cotton wool for the remainder of the season if the high-priced recruit has another setback with his troublesome shoulder,
The news is not as good for Koby Stevens, with the in-form midfielder set to spend an indefinite period on the sidelines after re-aggravating an abdominal complaint.
The 24-year-old missed rounds seven and eight with the injury, and then pulled up sore after the loss to GWS in round nine, forcing him to miss the weekend's win over Collingwood.
"Koby has re-aggravated his previous abdominal injury, so we'll take a conservative approach around that to ensure that we don't have issues moving forward." Lowe said.
