GREATER Western Sydney's injury concerns have worsened with star midfielder Ryan Griffen and emerging defender Nathan Wilson set to miss a number of weeks.

Griffen strained his hamstring at training last week, while Wilson didn't recover from groin soreness after the club's mid-season bye in round 15.

The former Western Bulldog has been ruled out for the next 3-4 weeks, with Wilson set for at least another fortnight on the sidelines.

Both players carry the ball with speed and are extremely important to the Giants' style of play, with Griffen's work at stoppages and Wilson's run from defence sorely missed in last week's disappointing 32-point loss to Collingwood.

Griffen has played just eight games this season after missing six weeks with a back injury he suffered at training ahead of the Giants' round six clash with Hawthorn.

Wilson made just 32 appearances in his first four years in the League, but had played every game prior to the loss to the Pies, establishing himself as a vital member of the Giants' backline.

The West Australian is second only to reigning club champion Heath Shaw at GWS for metres gained per match this year.

On a better note, key defender Tim Mohr is a chance to return to the NEAFL this week after recovering from a hamstring strain.

Mohr will need to get through the Giants' main training session later in the week before he's cleared to play his first game since round nine.
